Commissioning Guide

Nigel Cotterill designs and makes individual pieces of contemporary furniture, crafted in solid timber in addition to other materials such as glass, stainless steel and granite.

The design of a piece of Whippletree Furniture usually begins with a visit to the showroom on Cambridge Road, Tauriko,  where a potential client can browse through some examples of finished pieces as well as photos of past commissions. A typical visit might include a discussion of a client’s requirements, the  types of timber or other materials to be used, whether the client has a budget in mind, and possible timescales. If required, Nigel will then visit the client’s home or workplace to view where the piece of furniture would be placed and how it would relate to other items nearby.

Once the materials, design and costings have been approved, a completion and delivery date for the piece will be set, in agreement with the client. Nigel can then commence creating the piece in his workshop.
